I recently wrote an article in the November edition of the Gazette re my classes & had a great response. I would therefore like to continue the theme of how yoga can help us in so many ways.
It is so rewarding as a teacher to see so many people exploring different styles of yoga & bringing it into their lives. There is a desire to discover how we can all help to ensure our own physical & mental wellbeing. Physically yoga helps us to become stronger & more stable, more flexible & mentally helping us towards a peaceful mind; all of which helps us throughout our lives to cope with life’s challenges & to allow us to learn to ‘let go’ & ‘learn to relax’. Even whilst we are watching tv or reading we are still engaging our minds & not truly switching off. Yoga can help us to feel happier, sleep better, feel fitter & holistically enable us to lead healthier lives.
In addition to my weekly classes (see details below), after training with Adelene Cheong in London I also hold a bi-monthly Sunday afternoon Restorative Yoga class
in the Institute between 2pm and 4 pm. This style of yoga places an emphasis on going slowly, actively relaxing using numerous yoga props such as squishy bolsters, warm blankets, eye pillows, blocks etc & holding postures for extended periods. The props are used to support the body to facilitate deep release from muscular tension & to enable the quietening & unravelling of the mind from mental tension. A restorative yoga practice truly works wonders to strengthen & support our immune systems. There is a healing quality to the practice allowing our nervous systems to ‘Relax, Renew & Restore’.
I only have a maximum 11 people in the class due to its nature allowing me to give my full attention to every person, to nurture them & guide them into totally letting go. After previous classes my students have said how they have not relaxed so deeply for so long & did not know they could! It can leave you feeling both relaxed & revitalised.
My next session is fully booked in April. The following session will then be 24th June, please contact me for further details.
